⏳ Asynchronous Collaboration & Multi-Timezone Work¶
Darukaa team works across different time zones — including Abhinav and Guneet based in Germany — so we prioritize async collaboration to stay efficient and respectful of everyone’s time.
Multi-Timezone Collaboration¶
- Be mindful of colleagues’ working hours when scheduling meetings or expecting real-time responses.
- Plan and coordinate tasks considering time differences; avoid urgent requests outside core hours.
- Use asynchronous channels (GitHub, docs, chat) to reduce dependency on immediate replies.
Documentation & Context Sharing¶
- Before scheduling any meeting, always share relevant documentation or context in advance.
- Provide clear agendas, background, and expected outcomes so participants can prepare and contribute effectively.
- Use collaborative docs or ticket descriptions for ongoing updates and discussion.
Ticket & Task Management¶
- Each GitHub ticket must include:
- Detailed description and goals
- Clear acceptance criteria
- Relevant links (docs, designs, references)
- Keep tickets updated to reflect progress or blockers — this keeps everyone in the loop asynchronously.
Best Practices for Async Work¶
- Write clear, concise messages and documentation.
- Use comments and threads in tickets and docs to clarify points without cluttering main text.
- Respect async response times — expect replies within 24 hours unless urgent.
- Use @mentions thoughtfully to notify specific teammates.
- Leverage tools like shared calendars and scheduling apps to find overlapping times for necessary live discussions.
Meeting Etiquette in a Distributed Team¶
- Share agenda and materials at least 24 hours before the meeting.
- Keep meetings focused and timeboxed.
- Record meetings when possible and share summaries for those who cannot attend.
- Prefer async updates and discussions over meetings when feasible.
By embracing asynchronous communication and thoughtful planning, we ensure smooth collaboration and respect for all team members’ timezones and workflows. 🌍✨
